I Reviewed a Client’s Website and Found Out Why It Was So Slow

Earlier this week, I was reviewing one of my client’s websites and noticed it was running really slow — enough to frustrate visitors or lose sales.

Once I logged into the dashboard, a few things stood out right away:

  • Plugins were outdated

  • Hundreds of spam comments were piling up

  • No caching or speed tools had been set up at all

I started with the basics: safely updated the plugins, cleaned out over 300 spam comments that were clogging the site, and added a lightweight caching plugin to help boost load times.

By the end of the hour, the site was already faster and way easier to navigate — no major overhaul needed, just some quick cleanup and care.
